Weekend at Paraty

We spent an enjoyable weekend at Paraty, about four hours by car south of Rio. Paraty is a colonial-era port town that time pretty well forgot until it was rediscovered and preserved. The centre is now car-free and it's a very relaxing alternative to the bustle of Rio.

The grown-ups went to a demonstrative cooking school where we worked with recipes from the Amazonia region.

We all enjoyed a cruise to some of the beaches and islands around Paraty. The water was clear, full of tropical fish and still warm enough for swimming.
